Coaching is not telling you what to do. Coaching involves informing, teaching, empowerment, support and motivation. We aim to shed the light on the importance of less stress, more wise food choices and enough exercise; because you OWN your wellness. It's in your hands.
Wellness is not just about physical well-being, it's larger and more encompassing than "health", and it also includes the mental and emotional state one is in. It's not just treating symptoms, it's more a process of assessing and addressing the whole person.
In this holistic approach, our focus at In Your Hands is on nutrition, coaching and promoting balance and relaxation.
In Your Hands
I was born and raised in Antwerp, Belgium, lived and worked most of adulthood in The Netherlands, and I relocated to South-Africa in 2023.
I hold a Bachelor in Political and Social Sciences and a Master degree in Communications Science from the University of Antwerp. I also hold Diplomas in Nutrition, Weight Consultancy and Hand Reflexology. I worked mainly in Marketing & Communications roles, and I was a Vocational Education Teacher and a Softball Coach.
I had a 20 year international career in Softball, both player and coach (1987 – 2008). I traveled a lot, and after my Softball career I took up other sports like Cycling, SUP, Running, Hiking, Padel and Pickleball.
I am a writer and stand for freedom of expression. Here are some examples that appeared in my column.
My focus is continuous improvement and roll out of evidence based knowledge around the impact of food on our health, our planet and our fellow earthlings and last but not least the debunking of the false belief system in which mine and many generations grew up in.
As a nutrition coach, my passion lies in educating people on food choices, so YOU can make your own informed decisions, based on your assessment of processed knowledge. It is ... indeed... in your hands!
"Health" refers to a state of being free from disease and illness, while "wellness" is a broader concept encompassing the active pursuit of a balanced and fulfilling life, including physical, mental, emotional, social, and spiritual well-being.
Well-being is the experience of health, happiness, and prosperity.
It includes having good mental health, high life satisfaction, a sense of meaning or purpose, and the ability to manage stress.
