Plants are the reason life on Earth is possible. Plants use their own antioxidants to protect themselves from environmental factors that can cause damage (UV radiation, heat, mold, chemicals).
ANTIOXIDANTS
Without antioxidants, free radicals (carcinogenic substances released by oxidation) can damage our enzymes and DNA.
Do you remember how free radicals are formed in our bodies? For example, heme iron?
Antioxidants are found in fruits and vegetables.
There are the classic antioxidants like vitamin C, vitamin E, and the mineral Selenium. There are also carotenoids like beta-carotene, lycopene, lutein, and astaxanthin. And then there are flavonoids, which are abundant in fruits. Antioxidants can neutralize harmful free radicals and keep your body and processes healthy.
FIBER
Fiber is a complex carbohydrate (polysaccharide) that is virtually indigestible and therefore passes through your body almost unchanged from start to finish!
Fiber is only found in plant based food.
There is NO FIBER in animal products.
Function of fiber: to thicken food pulp so that
a feeling of fullness is created
bowel movements are initiated and proceed smoothly.
Furthermore, fiber helps lower cholesterol and slows down the transport of food, preventing blood sugar spikes.
Whole grains, vegetables, fruit, legumes, and nuts/seeds contain fiber.
I'm talking about the presence of healthy nutrients like minerals, vitamins, fiber, and antioxidants, and the absence of pathogens like casein, cholesterol, and fat.
There's only one way of eating that's proven to prevent, stop, and even cure our lifestyle diseases.
There's overwhelming evidence that Western diseases are primarily the result of our standard diet, which is rich in animal protein, fat, and cholesterol.
